The Power of YOUR Song

Updated: Apr 27, 2023

Do you have a great voice? If so, then sing! Do you have a horrible voice? If so, then sing! There is power in the song. God gave you your vocal cords, voice, and ability to sing.

There has never been a culture in which music was not part of society. We see music communicated in everything from cave dwellings to weddings, funerals, parades, and more. Do you sing in the shower? Isn't it amazing how great our voices sound in the privacy of the shower? And yes, God created us for so much more!

· James 5:13 encourages us to sing out our praises.

· Psalm 28:7 talks about jumping for joy and bursting forth with ecstatic, enthusiastic praise and singing songs to God.

· Colossians 3:16 reminds us to instruct one another with Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.

· Ephesians 5:18-19 tells us to allow our hearts to overflow with a song to the Lord.

The joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10). When we are joyful, a lightness comes into our lives. Anxiety and fear cannot find a home. It is easy for a song to burst forth when we are joyful. However, when we are struggling with fear, insecurity, pain, or disappointment, we can sing our way right out of the pain when we align the songs with the heart of God.

God gave us praise, worship, and song as a powerful weapon. Amid a song to the Lord, not only do we get an attitude adjustment, but the demonic cannot stand. Sometimes the best stance against a demonic attack is to extravagantly worship God, including dancing, shouting, and playing instruments.

Within the body of Christ, the power of the song is a gift and a weapon. The challenge is that we have not used this gift and weapon to its fullest corporately or individually. You are in a season to find your voice and sing. You will be amazed at what God does in and through you.

Heavenly Father, I ask your forgiveness for not realizing the importance and power of my voice for your Kingdom. I ask for forgiveness for when I have used my voice against your ways in anger, frustration, doubt, fear, and depression. Heavenly Father, I invite you to sanctify my voice to bring glory to you. I come into alignment with who you have created me to be. I will sing out praise to you, and I will allow my heart to overflow with the song of the Lord. Release within me the courage to sing forth with conviction and power the praise of your name. In Jesus Name, Amen.
